Voice in Democracy

In Brief

Everyone should have the right to vote.

According to the Year 2000 United States Census, voter registration and participation rates drop consistently as household incomes decline. This speaks to the harsh realities faced by those with difficult financial situations, but also reveals barriers to voting that exist intrinsically in our countries democratic system.

Poverty Action’s voter campaign works to ensure that people with lower incomes receive the same level of engagement in the electoral process as the wealthy and fortunate.
